Richard "Ricky" Charles Egan, Jr.

"Ricky" was born to Adelaide (Hartt) and Richard Charles Egan on January 8, 1940. He died October 24, 1996. He spent his life in Winthrop, Massachusetts. He married M. Susan Caramanica (b. July 11, 1941) on December 6, 1959. He worked as a candy maker at Bailey's of Boston, and then as a computer systems consultant for Polaroid until his retirement in the late 80's. A fisherman at heart, he owned a bait and tackle business for more than 20 years with his brother in-law, Bob Cox. He was also a Scout Master for the Winthrop Boy Scouts for many years. He was also the family genealogist, and spent the last 10 years of his life doing tireless research on his family history, which is being carried on by his daughter, Maureen. She has all of his extensive notes, documents, and information and is working tirelessly with her cousin Brian and dad’s cousins (Phil Spaziani and Bill King) to bring the tree into the 21st Century. While researching the family history, he found that in the early history of New England immigrations, The Hartt name was used, or borrowed by some immigrants for the purpose of purchasing land. The Hartts were known at the time, and their name carried a "good reputation". This helped others to get accepted when applying for grants and loans.” Since this was pre-internet, it made tracing the family history very difficult.
